Ca Phe Sua Da

I'm on the road now to a shoot that's a long drive from the city, and it's hot out there. Pit stop at a Starbucks and I'm sipping on my Caramel Macchiato while taking care of some work stuff, and I just remembered the fantastic iced coffee we'd always have in our recent trip to Vietnam. cà phê sữa đá is what they call it. A simple concoction of Vietnamese Coffee + ice + sweet condensed milk.

Perfect on a hot day, cheap (about a US dollar on the streets) and quite addicting. Heck they even have it on the Mekkong River! The photo above is a guy that has a little boat that's set up like a mini-bar with coffee and other drinks. You'll find other boats like his roaming around the floating markets along the river.

I want my cà phê sữa đá.

Hey! Great meeting you as well. We actually went back to your cafe when we got back to Hanoi coming from Hoi An, but you weren't there at the time. Next time I get a chance to go to Hanoi, I'll be sure to visit your shop again though. :)

Hi! (^_^)

I was amazed to learn that a non-Asian guy likes to drink "Ca Phe Sua Da". Haha... The coffee is pretty strong! (^_^) Anyway, I'm a Vietnamese, an intenational student from Vietnam, and I was so craved for Ca Phe Sua Da one day (4 years ago), so I decided to apply for a barista position at a coffee shop on campus. Amazingly, I found the Ca phe sua da version in Starbucks:

2 shots Espresso + 2 pumps White Mocha (you can do 3 pumps if you like, it's just I like the taste a little bit strong) and ON THE ROCKS (^_^)

It costs you under $3.00 which is cheaper than the Caramel Macchiatto.

Try it and let me know!
